Dosage & Administration
-
The usual guideline is 1 tablet per 10 kg body weight, or equivalently: 15 mg febantel / 14.4mg pyrantel embonate / 5mg praziquantel per kg of body weight (this corresponds to one full tablet per 10kg)
-
For dogs of different weights, fractional tablets may be used (e.g. half tablet for small dogs)
-
It can be given directly in the mouth or mixed into food — no need to fast before or after dosing.
-
The frequency of deworming (i.e. how often to repeat) is to be determined by your veterinarian depending on your dog’s risk and environment.
Safety, Contraindications & Precautions
-
Not to be used in animals hypersensitive to any of the active ingredients.
-
Use caution (or avoid) in pregnant dogs, especially during certain trimesters — some sources say not to use during the first two‑thirds of pregnancy.
-
The manufacturer’s safety information warns to read the product insert for detailed contraindications.
-
Store in a cool, dry place, below recommended temperature (e.g. below 30 °C) and keep out of reach of children and pets.
-
Ensure accurate dosing by weight — overdosing or underdosing can reduce efficacy or risk side effects.
Possible Side Effects & Reports
While many dogs tolerate it well, some side effects have been reported or discussed by pet owners (though their frequency is unclear):
-
Mild gastrointestinal upset: vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea
-
Behavioral / neurological effects: some owners report hyperactivity, restlessness, pacing, agitation after administration, especially in puppies.
-
Because many accounts are anecdotal, it’s not always possible to attribute these to the drug definitively — but they are worth being aware of.
