Oxbow “Bunny Basics / Essentials Young Rabbit Fortified Food” (for young rabbits) — the 2.25 kg is one of its package sizes (often labelled ~5 lb in markets where imperial weights are used).
Description & Purpose
-
This is a fortified pellet diet specially formulated for young / growing rabbits (under 1 year).
-
The recipe is alfalfaâ€based (alfalfa hay being rich in fiber and protein) to support digestive health, growth, and muscle development.
-
It is a complete and balanced food: every pellet is uniform so your rabbit cannot “pick and choose” (which helps avoid nutritional deficiencies).
-
The formulation includes added vitamins and minerals, so the food provides 100% of the daily recommended vitamins and minerals for growing rabbits.
-
There are no artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors in this formula—just “purposeful ingredients.”

Feeding Instructions & Tips
-
For growing rabbits (under 1 year old): offer unlimited pellets daily, in addition to unlimited grass hay (so hay remains a staple).
-
For pregnant or nursing rabbits: likewise, offer pellets freeâ€choice along with plenty of hay.
-
When transitioning from another feed: mix gradually over ~3–4 weeks (e.g. week 1: 3 parts old + 1 part new; week 2: 2 old + 2 new; week 3: 1 old + 3 new; week 4: full new) to avoid digestive upset.
