Feeding Guidelines
-
Recommended for mature guinea pigs, generally those over 6 months of age. Not intended for young, pregnant, nursing or gestating guinea pigs, who need higher nutritional levels.
-
Suggested daily amount: ≈ 1/8 to 1/4 cup pellets per day, in addition to unlimited grass hay (such as Western Timothy, Orchard, etc.).
-
Always ensure fresh hay is available for fibre and dental health.
Considerations & Warnings
-
Because it’s lower in calcium and protein than alfalfa pellets, switching from an alfalfaâ€based diet should be gradual to avoid digestive upset.
-
Ensure guinea pigs receive daily Vitamin C, as deficiency can lead to health issues. This food includes stabilized Vitamin C, but if consumption is low, extra supplementation may be needed.
-
Observe the animal’s weight and condition; adjust feeding if overfeeding or underweight.
-
Store in a cool, dry place to preserve vitamin content and prevent spoilage.
