Vivaldis Haltorin Powder for Dogs & Cats (20g)

Vivaldis Haltorin is a veterinary intestinal adsorbent and antidiarrhoeal powder for dogs and cats, formulated to manage acute diarrhoea, loose stools, and intestinal discomfort. Haltorin works by binding and adsorbing intestinal toxins, pathogenic bacteria, and irritants in the GI lumen, supporting gut mucosal integrity and normalising stool consistency. Suitable for puppies, kittens, adult, and senior dogs and cats. Easy-to-mix powder format for hassle-free administration mixed with food or water.

Note: Confirm the exact active ingredients and composition (e.g. kaolin, pectin, activated charcoal, attapulgite, smectite, or other adsorbents) and dose per pack from the product label and update accordingly.

Key Ingredients & Mechanisms (confirm from label)

  • Intestinal adsorbent(s) — likely kaolin, pectin, activated charcoal, dioctahedral smectite (montmorillonite), or attapulgite (confirm from label): Intestinal adsorbents act within the GI lumen to reduce the bioavailability and biological impact of enterotoxins, endotoxins, and irritants driving acute secretory and osmotic diarrhoea; mechanisms: (1) kaolin (hydrated aluminium silicate) — high surface area phyllosilicate mineral; adsorbs enterotoxins (E. coli heat-labile toxin LT, heat-stable toxin ST, Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin CPE), endotoxins (LPS), rotavirus particles, and bile salts onto its charged silicate surface layers via electrostatic and van der Waals interactions; also provides a coating effect on irritated intestinal mucosa (demulcent action), protecting the epithelial surface from further irritant contact; (2) pectin (polygalacturonic acid polymer) — soluble dietary fibre; fermented by colonic microbiota to short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs, principally butyrate) which are the primary colonocyte energy substrate, supporting mucosal healing; pectin also increases luminal viscosity and slows intestinal transit time, allowing greater fluid and electrolyte reabsorption by the colon; pectin forms a gel matrix that traps toxins and pathogens within the bowel lumen for faecal excretion; (3) activated charcoal (activated carbon) — if included: extremely high surface area microporous carbon (500–3000 m²/g by BET analysis); the most potent non-selective GI adsorbent; adsorbs a broad range of organic toxins, alkaloids, mycotoxins, and drugs via hydrophobic and pi-pi stacking interactions; used acutely for GI decontamination after toxin ingestion; note — activated charcoal non-selectively adsorbs orally co-administered medications — separate administration by minimum 2 hours from any concurrent oral medications; (4) dioctahedral smectite (montmorillonite/Smecta) — if included: 2:1 layered phyllosilicate clay with large adsorptive capacity for rotavirus, Clostridium difficile toxin A and B, E. coli LT and ST, and bile salts; smectite adsorbs mucins and has a direct mucosal cytoprotective effect (coating and crosslinking intestinal mucus gel layer, reinforcing the mucus barrier); has documented efficacy in acute secretory diarrhoea in companion animals

Therapeutic Class

  • Veterinary intestinal adsorbent and antidiarrhoeal powder — acute diarrhoea, loose stools, intestinal toxin binding, GI mucosal protection — dogs and cats all ages

Indications

  • Acute diarrhoea and loose stools in dogs and cats
  • Dietary indiscretion-associated GI upset
  • Post-infectious intestinal recovery
  • Toxin or irritant ingestion-associated diarrhoea
  • Travel-related or stress-associated GI upset
  • Adjunct management of parvoviral, bacterial, and rotaviral enteritis under veterinary supervision

Dosage & Administration

  • Mix powder with food or water as directed by a veterinarian; confirm dose per body weight from product label
  • 20g pack; confirm number of doses per pack from label
  • Or as directed by a veterinarian

Safety Information

  • Generally very well tolerated; transient constipation may occur with high doses of kaolin-pectin adsorbents
  • If activated charcoal is included: administer separately from any oral medications by at least 2 hours to prevent adsorption of co-administered drugs
  • Keep container tightly sealed after use; store in a cool, dry place
  • Keep out of reach of children; for animal use only
