Assurem Acicare Pantoprazole 40mg Gastric Acid Suppressant Tablet for Dogs & Cats (10 Tablets)

Assurem Acicare is a veterinary prescription gastric acid suppressant tablet formulated by Assurem. The 40mg strength (Pantoprazole — confirm from label) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) indicated for the treatment of gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hyperacidity, and NSAID- or corticosteroid-induced gastric mucosal damage in dogs and cats. Each pack contains 10 tablets for a standard treatment course.

Composition (per tablet — confirm from product label)

  • Pantoprazole — 40mg (proton pump inhibitor / PPI) — confirm active ingredient and exact strength from physical label before dispensing

Mechanism of Action

  • Pantoprazole (PPI) irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase (gastric proton pump) enzyme in parietal cells — blocks gastric acid secretion at the final step regardless of stimulus (histamine, gastrin, acetylcholine)
  • Produces potent, sustained suppression of gastric acid (up to 24 hours per dose) — significantly more effective than H2 antagonists for acid-dependent GI conditions
  • Elevated intragastric pH promotes healing of gastric ulcers, erosive oesophagitis, and NSAID-induced mucosal lesions

Therapeutic Class

  • Veterinary proton pump inhibitor (PPI) / gastric acid suppressant prescription tablet for dogs and cats

Key Benefits

  • Potent gastric acid suppression — effective for NSAID-induced and corticosteroid-induced mucosal damage where H2 blockers may be insufficient
  • 40mg strength — suitable for medium to large dogs requiring higher-dose PPI therapy
  • Supports healing of gastric and duodenal ulcers, erosive oesophagitis, and GERD
  • Controls vomiting and indigestion associated with gastric acid disorders

Indications

  • Gastritis (acute and chronic) in dogs and cats
  • Gastric and duodenal ulcers
  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive oesophagitis
  • Hyperacidity and acid-related gastric discomfort
  • NSAID-induced and corticosteroid-induced gastric mucosal damage — treatment and prevention
  • Vomiting and regurgitation associated with gastric acid disorders

Directions for Use

  • Administer orally as directed by a licensed veterinarian
  • Administer on an empty stomach (30–60 minutes before first meal) for optimal PPI efficacy
  • Dosage determined by species, body weight, and condition — refer to veterinary prescription
  • Do not abruptly discontinue after prolonged use — taper under veterinary supervision to avoid rebound acid hypersecretion

Safety Information

  • Prescription medicine — for veterinary use only; administer under licensed veterinary supervision
  • Long-term PPI use may affect absorption of vitamin B12, magnesium, and calcium — monitor on extended therapy
  • May alter absorption of drugs requiring gastric acid for dissolution (e.g. ketoconazole, itraconazole) — consider timing of concurrent medications
  • Keep out of reach of children; store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
