For veterinary use — give under the guidance of a licensed veterinarian, dosed on your pet's body weight. Never give human allergy medicines to a pet without veterinary direction: many combination products contain decongestants such as pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine that are highly toxic to dogs and cats. Antihistamines control the symptom, not the cause, so itching that keeps returning needs investigation for fleas, mites, food allergy, or secondary skin or ear infection. Consult your veterinarian before use in puppies and kittens, in pregnant or lactating animals, and in pets with kidney or liver disease or on other medication. Stop and seek advice if your pet vomits repeatedly, becomes unusually drowsy or agitated, or if the skin worsens or develops sores. Shake well before each use and measure with a dosing syringe rather than a kitchen spoon. Confirm the exact concentration and dosing from the product pack. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Drools FexoVet Fexofenadine Antihistamine Oral Suspension for Dogs & Cats

Drools FexoVet Oral Suspension is a veterinary antihistamine liquid for dogs and cats containing Fexofenadine, used to relieve itching, sneezing, skin irritation, and other signs of allergic reaction. Allergy in pets usually shows in the skin rather than the nose: relentless scratching, licking at the paws, face rubbing, and recurring ear trouble. That scratching breaks the skin barrier and opens the door to bacterial and yeast infection, so settling the itch early prevents a much larger problem. Fexofenadine is a non-sedating antihistamine, which means it can control the itch without leaving your pet dopey and flat, unlike the older first-generation antihistamines. The liquid format makes accurate weight-based dosing straightforward in cats and small dogs, and is far easier to give than splitting tablets.

Composition & Mechanism of Action

  • Fexofenadine — a third-generation, non-sedating, selective peripheral H1 antihistamine. When an allergen crosslinks IgE on mast cells, the cells release histamine, which acts on H1 receptors to cause the vasodilation, fluid leakage, swelling, and sensory nerve stimulation felt as itching. Fexofenadine acts as an inverse agonist at the H1 receptor: it binds the receptor's inactive form and holds it there, suppressing both histamine-driven and background receptor activity. Blocking peripheral H1 receptors reduces the wheal and flare of urticaria, calms itch signalling along sensory nerve fibres, and limits mucus secretion and airway narrowing. Because fexofenadine is actively pumped out of the brain by P-glycoprotein at the blood-brain barrier, it causes minimal sedation and none of the anticholinergic effects seen with older antihistamines. Confirm the concentration per ml from the product pack.
