Drools IeyePet-M Moxifloxacin Antibiotic Eye Drops for Dogs & Cats
Prescription veterinary antibiotic eye drops — use only on the direction of a licensed veterinarian. Eyes deteriorate fast, so never treat a painful eye at home without an examination: squinting, holding the eye shut, pawing or rubbing at the face, a cloudy or blue-tinged eye, visible injury, or sudden loss of vision are emergencies and need same-day veterinary attention. A corneal ulcer can look like simple conjunctivitis to the naked eye but requires a fluorescein stain test to detect, and the wrong treatment on an ulcerated eye can cost the eye. Complete the full course even if the eye looks better within a day or two. Do not let the dropper tip touch the eye, eyelid, or any surface, as this contaminates the bottle. Do not share the bottle between pets, and discard it after the period stated on the pack once opened. Consult your veterinarian before use in pregnant or lactating animals. Confirm the exact concentration from the product pack. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap closed.
Drools IeyePet-M Moxifloxacin Antibiotic Eye Drops for Dogs & Cats
Drools IeyePet-M is a veterinary ophthalmic solution for dogs and cats containing Moxifloxacin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the eye surface. The eye is an awkward place to treat: tears wash medication away within minutes, and the cornea is a barrier most drugs struggle to cross. Moxifloxacin is well suited to it, penetrating ocular tissue effectively and covering a wide range of the bacteria responsible for conjunctivitis and surface eye infection in pets. Applied directly to the eye, it delivers a high concentration exactly where the infection is, with very little absorbed into the rest of the body.
Composition & Mechanism of Action
- Moxifloxacin — a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It works by inhibiting two bacterial enzymes essential to replication: DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II), which relieves the supercoiling strain ahead of the replication fork, and topoisomerase IV, which separates the two daughter DNA molecules after replication. With both enzymes blocked, the bacterium cannot unwind, copy, or divide its DNA, and the resulting breaks kill the cell, making moxifloxacin bactericidal rather than merely growth-inhibiting. Targeting both enzymes at once is why fourth-generation fluoroquinolones retain activity against organisms that have developed resistance to earlier ones, since a single mutation is not enough to escape the drug. It covers Gram-positive organisms such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, Gram-negative organisms including Pseudomonas and E. coli, and some atypical bacteria. Mammalian cells use structurally different topoisomerases, so host tissue is unaffected. Confirm the concentration from the product pack.
