PRESCRIPTION VETERINARY NSAID — FOR DOGS ONLY. NEVER GIVE TO CATS. Cats metabolise carprofen extremely slowly and even a single tablet can cause kidney failure and death. Keep the pack well away from cats in the household. No dose is published here. Carprofen is dosed on body weight and prescribed as a specific strength, number of tablets, and frequency, and getting the frequency wrong is as dangerous as getting the amount wrong — follow the label your veterinarian dispenses and weigh your dog rather than estimating. Never give human painkillers to pets, and never combine carprofen with another NSAID or with any corticosteroid: that combination sharply raises the risk of stomach ulceration and perforation, and your veterinarian will require a washout period when switching. Do not use in dogs that are dehydrated, in shock, or have low blood pressure, nor in those with kidney or liver disease, stomach ulcers, or bleeding disorders. Consult your veterinarian before use in pregnant, lactating, or young dogs. Give with or straight after food. Your veterinarian will usually run baseline blood tests before a long course and repeat them periodically, because carprofen can affect the liver. Rare idiosyncratic liver reactions have been reported, most often in the first few weeks. Stop the tablets and contact your veterinarian immediately if your dog vomits, has diarrhoea or black tarry stools, goes off its food, becomes dull, weak, or jaundiced, drinks or urinates noticeably more, or shows any change in behaviour. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Neo Kumfurt CP Ortho Carprofen Tablets for Dogs | Pain & Inflammation Relief

CP Ortho is a prescription veterinary NSAID containing carprofen, used to control pain and inflammation in dogs from osteoarthritis, injury, and surgery. Carprofen is one of the longest-established canine NSAIDs and remains a first choice for arthritis because dogs tolerate long courses of it well under monitoring. What owners notice is rarely dramatic: an old dog that starts using the stairs again, gets up without the slow shuffle, or comes to the door to greet you. Dogs hide pain by doing less, so the return of ordinary behaviour is usually the best evidence the drug is working. Available in multiple strengths and pack sizes so your veterinarian can match the prescription to your dog.

Therapeutic Class

  • Prescription veterinary non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) — carprofen, for dogs only

Mechanism of Action

  • Injury and joint disease trigger the cyclo-oxygenase enzymes to produce prostaglandins, which drive swelling, heat, and pain signalling.
  • Carprofen inhibits cyclo-oxygenase activity, reducing prostaglandin production at the site of inflammation.
  • Less inflammation means less pain and better joint movement, which in turn keeps muscle around the joint working — an important part of managing arthritis.
  • Because prostaglandins also protect the stomach lining and support kidney blood flow, food, hydration, and veterinary monitoring remain essential.

Indications

  • Osteoarthritis pain and inflammation in dogs
  • Chronic degenerative joint disease, including hip and elbow problems
  • Acute pain from soft tissue injury, sprains, and trauma
  • Post-operative pain and inflammation, including orthopaedic surgery

Key Benefits

  • Effective control of acute and chronic pain in dogs
  • Reduces joint inflammation and supports better mobility
  • Well suited to long-term arthritis management under veterinary monitoring
  • Helps dogs stay active, which protects the muscle that supports a sore joint
  • Multiple strengths and pack sizes for accurate prescribing

Administration

  • Give exactly the strength, number of tablets, and frequency your veterinarian prescribed
  • Weigh your dog accurately — NSAID dosing is unforgiving of estimates
  • Give with or immediately after food
  • Give at the same time each day
  • Keep fresh water available at all times
  • Never double up after a missed dose
  • Attend recheck blood tests during long-term treatment
  • Tell your veterinarian about every other medicine your dog is taking
