PRESCRIPTION VETERINARY NSAID — dosed only by a licensed veterinarian. No dose is published here on purpose. Meloxicam has a narrow safety margin, the correct amount depends on species, body weight, and the individual animal, and your veterinarian will give you a figure in millilitres for your pet. Cats are not small dogs. The safe feline dose is a small fraction of the canine dose, and repeated dosing at canine levels is a recognised cause of acute kidney failure and death in cats. Measure every dose with the syringe supplied, never a kitchen spoon, and shake the bottle before use so the suspension is evenly mixed. Double-check the number of millilitres before each dose, especially with a small cat, where a decimal place is the difference between a treatment and an overdose. Never give human painkillers to pets. Paracetamol is fatal to cats, and ibuprofen and aspirin cause ulcers and kidney damage in both species. Do not give alongside any other NSAID or any corticosteroid, as the combination sharply raises the risk of stomach ulceration and perforation, and a washout period is needed when switching. Do not use in animals that are dehydrated, in shock, or have low blood pressure, nor in those with kidney or liver disease, stomach ulcers, or bleeding disorders. Consult your veterinarian before use in pregnant, lactating, or very young animals. Always give with or straight after food. Stop and contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet vomits, has diarrhoea or black tarry stools, goes off its food, becomes dull or weak, drinks or urinates noticeably more, or develops yellowing of the eyes or gums. Long-term use requires periodic kidney and liver blood tests. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Store as directed on the pack, away from direct sunlight.

Neo Kumfurt Melopet Meloxicam Oral Suspension for Dogs & Cats | 15ml

Melopet oral suspension is a prescription veterinary NSAID containing meloxicam, used to control pain, inflammation, and fever in dogs and cats. A liquid is the right format for this drug in small patients: a tablet can only be split so far, while a suspension drawn up in a graduated syringe lets a veterinarian prescribe an exact dose for a 3kg cat as easily as a 30kg dog, and that precision is the whole safety story with NSAIDs. The flavoured suspension is also easier to give to a sore animal than a tablet, and it can be dosed straight onto food. Supplied in a 15ml bottle.

Therapeutic Class

  • Prescription veterinary non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) — meloxicam, preferential COX-2 inhibitor

Mechanism of Action

  • Pain, swelling, and fever are driven by prostaglandins made by the cyclo-oxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2.
  • Meloxicam preferentially blocks COX-2, the enzyme switched on at sites of injury and inflammation.
  • It spares more COX-1 activity than older NSAIDs, and COX-1 maintains the protective stomach mucus layer and kidney blood flow.
  • That sparing reduces but does not remove the risk of ulceration and kidney injury, which is why food, hydration, and monitoring still matter.

Indications

  • Pain and inflammation from musculoskeletal disorders and injuries
  • Post-operative pain, including after dental procedures and minor surgery
  • Inflammation and discomfort associated with otitis
  • Fever associated with inflammatory conditions
  • Osteoarthritis and chronic joint pain, under veterinary supervision

Key Benefits

  • Precise millilitre dosing, which matters most in cats and small dogs
  • Effective relief from pain, inflammation, and fever
  • Flavoured and palatable, so it is easier to give than a tablet
  • Can be given directly or mixed into a small amount of food
  • Suitable for both dogs and cats at veterinary-prescribed doses

Administration

  • Shake the bottle well before every dose
  • Draw up the exact volume your veterinarian prescribed, using the dosing syringe
  • Give with or immediately after food, directly into the mouth or onto a small amount of food
  • Give at the same time each day
  • Ensure the full dose is eaten if it is mixed into food
  • Keep fresh water available and never dose a dehydrated animal
  • Never double up on a missed dose
  • Attend recheck blood tests for pets on long-term treatment

Pack Size

  • 15ml bottle with dosing syringe
