Oriheal Palapan Vet Pantoprazole Tablet for Dogs & Cats | 10mg, 20mg & 40mg
Prescription Required — For veterinary use only. Administer strictly under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.
Acid suppression treats the lining, not the cause. Vomiting, retching, and appetite loss have many causes, and some are surgical emergencies. Seek veterinary care urgently if your pet is retching without producing anything, has a bloated or painful abdomen, vomits repeatedly or brings up blood or coffee-ground material, passes black tarry stools, has swallowed a toy, bone, string, or anything toxic, has pale gums, or is collapsed or unresponsive. An unspayed female that is vomiting and drinking heavily needs to be seen the same day. Ongoing vomiting or weight loss deserves a diagnosis rather than indefinite acid suppression. Do not stop a long course abruptly, as acid secretion can rebound. Consult your veterinarian before use in pregnant or lactating animals and in very young animals, and tell them every other medicine your pet is taking. Keep out of reach of children.
Oriheal Palapan Vet Pantoprazole Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) Tablet for Dogs & Cats (10mg / 20mg / 40mg)
Oriheal Palapan Vet is a veterinary prescription palatable tablet containing Pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), manufactured by Oriheal Lifesciences. Available in three strengths (10mg, 20mg, and 40mg) for weight-based and condition-specific dosing. Pantoprazole irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) enzyme in gastric parietal cells, producing potent and sustained suppression of gastric acid secretion. Palapan Vet is indicated for the treatment and prevention of gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, erosive oesophagitis, GERD, and NSAID- or corticosteroid-induced gastric mucosal damage in dogs and cats.
Composition (per tablet)
- Pantoprazole — 10mg (proton pump inhibitor / PPI) — Variant 1
- Pantoprazole — 20mg (proton pump inhibitor / PPI) — Variant 2
- Pantoprazole — 40mg (proton pump inhibitor / PPI) — Variant 3
Mechanism of Action
- Pantoprazole is a substituted benzimidazole PPI — converted to its active sulphenamide form in the acidic canaliculi of gastric parietal cells
- Irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase (gastric proton pump) enzyme — the final step in gastric acid secretion; blocks acid production regardless of the stimulus (histamine, gastrin, acetylcholine)
- Produces potent, sustained suppression of gastric acid secretion (up to 24 hours per dose) — significantly more effective than H2 antagonists (ranitidine, famotidine) for acid-dependent conditions
- Creates an elevated intragastric pH environment that promotes healing of peptic ulcers and oesophageal erosions
- Full effect builds over the first few days of treatment as successive proton pumps are inhibited — do not expect an immediate response after a single dose
Therapeutic Class
- Veterinary proton pump inhibitor (PPI) / gastric acid suppressant prescription tablet for dogs and cats
Key Benefits
- Potent irreversible PPI — superior acid suppression vs. H2 antagonists; effective for NSAID-induced and corticosteroid-induced mucosal damage where H2 blockers may be insufficient
- Three strength variants (10mg, 20mg, 40mg) — enables weight-based and condition-specific dosing across small cats to large dogs
- Palatable tablet — improved compliance vs. unpalatable generic tablets
- Suitable for long-term gastric acid suppression therapy under veterinary supervision
Indications
- Gastritis (acute and chronic) in dogs and cats
- Gastric and duodenal ulcers
- Erosive oesophagitis and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- NSAID-induced and corticosteroid-induced gastric mucosal damage — treatment and prevention
- Stress-induced gastric ulcers (hospitalised or perioperative patients)
- Helicobacter-associated gastritis as part of combination therapy (as directed by veterinarian)
Directions for Use
- Administer orally as directed by a licensed veterinarian
- Administer on an empty stomach (30–60 minutes before first meal) for optimal PPI efficacy — proton pump inhibitors require activation in acidic parietal cell canaliculi, and efficacy is improved when parietal cells are actively secreting acid
- Give at the same time each day and complete the prescribed course
- Dosage determined by species, body weight, strength, and condition — refer to veterinary prescription
- Do not crush or split enteric-coated tablets if applicable — confirm with veterinarian
- Do not discontinue a prolonged course abruptly — taper as your veterinarian directs
Safety Information
- Prescription medicine — for veterinary use only; administer under licensed veterinary supervision
- Long-term PPI use — may reduce absorption of vitamin B12, magnesium, and calcium with prolonged use; monitor on extended therapy
- May alter absorption of drugs that require gastric acid for dissolution (e.g. ketoconazole, itraconazole) — consider timing of concurrent medications
- Rebound acid hypersecretion may occur on abrupt discontinuation after prolonged use — taper as directed by veterinarian
- Report persistent vomiting, appetite loss, weight loss, dullness, or blood in vomit or stool to your veterinarian
- Keep out of reach of children; store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
