Oriheal Recovery Diet High-Protein Convalescence Supplement for Dogs & Cats - 300g

Recovery Diet is a high-protein, energy-dense nutritional supplement for dogs and cats that are recovering from illness or surgery, are underweight, or have lost muscle condition. It supplies protein for tissue and muscle repair and concentrated calories for animals that cannot eat enough of their normal food to keep up with what recovery demands.

Please read before you use it

  • Ask your vet first if your pet has kidney or liver disease. High-protein feeding is often exactly the wrong thing in chronic kidney disease or liver failure, and both are common reasons an older dog or cat loses weight in the first place. Confirm the diagnosis before you start adding protein.
  • Introduce it gradually over 3 to 5 days. In a severely malnourished animal, feeding too much too quickly can trigger refeeding syndrome, where electrolytes shift dangerously and the heart rhythm becomes unstable. Severe cases need to be refed under veterinary supervision, not at home.
  • Weight loss is a symptom. If your pet is losing condition and you do not know why, that needs investigating. Kidney disease, hyperthyroidism in cats, diabetes, dental pain, parasites, gut disease and cancer all cause it, and none are solved by extra calories.
  • A cat that is barely eating cannot wait. More than two to three days of poor intake risks hepatic lipidosis, a serious liver condition. See a vet rather than persisting with a supplement at home.
  • Stop and speak to your vet if you see vomiting, diarrhoea or any worsening after starting it.
  • Always have fresh clean water available. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and seal the pack tightly after each use.

What it is used for

  • Recovery from infections and other illness
  • Nutritional support after soft tissue or orthopaedic surgery
  • Underweight animals, muscle wasting and chronic undernutrition
  • Poor appetite during or after illness
  • Weakness, lethargy and poor body condition
  • Controlled weight gain under veterinary dietary management
  • Muscle repair after surgery or injury

How it helps

A recovering animal needs more protein and more calories than a healthy one, while usually wanting to eat less. This supplement is formulated to close that gap: quality protein and amino acids for muscle and tissue repair, concentrated calories so a small volume of food still meets energy needs, and vitamins and minerals to support immune function and wound healing.

How to feed

  • Feed as directed by your veterinarian. The amount depends on species, body weight, body condition and how far into recovery your pet is
  • Follow the feeding rate on the pack, given as grams per kg of body weight per day
  • Can be fed on its own or mixed into the regular diet, as directed on the pack
  • Introduce gradually over 3 to 5 days
  • Keep fresh drinking water available at all times

Suitable for

Dogs and cats of all breeds and ages, under veterinary guidance. Check with your veterinarian before feeding it to pets with kidney disease, liver disease, pancreatitis, or any condition needing a controlled diet.
